A warm welcome to the fifth Bodmin Moor Poetry Festival. We hope that once again we have created a festival that will excite and inspire you, whether you dip in and out, or, as we hope, come for the whole week-end. This year we have the usual menu of readings, workshops, music and visual art, but have added quite a lot to the mix. After the positive response to last year’s Poetry Walk’ in partnership with ‘Walkers are Welcome’, we are offering that again, but also adding a second, coastal walk, combined with a writing workshop.

We also have an early morning Yoga session to warm you up for a poetry workshop, and a Flamenco dance presentation. As well as Jack Clemo’s centenary, we are marking the 400th of the Bard himself, and the 75th birthday of the great Bard of song Bob Dylan.

As for the poets themselves, we think that the mix of established names, younger stars and amazing new discoveries is our most exciting yet! From John Harvey and Pascale Petit to Declan Ryan and T.S.Eliot winner Sarah Howe we have poets of all ages and styles, whose only common theme is their excellence. We are very excited to have discovered Lebanese poet Zeina Hashem Beck, with her extraordinary mix of passion and politics, fire and tenderness. Zeina’s mesmerising performance technique, coupled with skilled and passionate poems mark her out as something quite unique – don’t miss her!

We’ve also added to our music content with a Dylan tribute, the return of the magnificent Little Machine, and the launch of our commissioned CD of Clemo’s poetry set to music by the wonderful Jim Causley.

Our festival exhibition this year also commemorates Clemo and clay country, with work by Tony Martin, Heather Spears and Stan Dobbin.

So join us to listen and think, walk and talk, write-along or sing-along.

Just don’t miss it!

Ann Gray and David Woolley
